The Silver Coast is easily reached from Lisbon and Porto airports, both of which are modern and situated adjacent to major road networks and are served by low-cost airlines from the UK. Faro airport on the Algarve can also be used but it's a 3.5 hour drive away.

If you're flying into Lisbon and would prefer not to have to hire a car, there is a vey good direct bus service from Lisbon to Caldas da Rainha which takes just over an hour.  All buses are modern and air conditioned and the trip cost approximately €7.50 per person.  The bus station is about a 10 minute taxi ride from Lisbon airport.
